Rise of graphic vectors everywhere
“Give me a place to stand and with a lever I will move the whole world.”...says ancient greek scientist Archimedes ... And he was right in just mentioning simple vectors.
But first back to current trends to be expected: Vector graphics will soon replace pixel graphics. It is likely to be expected in a more near future as a change in image editing and capturing technologies.
And a light hint on a change beyond in the way we see software, IT and science.
Since computer performances will keep rising this will not lead to better and bigger pixel pictures - but to the upcoming use of vector technologies instead. Vector graphics just describe the boundaries and outlines of objects and object details. This imaging technology is much ahead on this old-schoolishly just counting pixel by pixel of an image. A vector based image just calculates colors and forms, all this based on mathematical formula. This needs little space on a hard disk and also can be computed in real time. Soon even on your mobile.
3-D-softwares and tech are already working with vectors, so be aware on the first vector-shooting digital camera or cell phone cam very soon. Maybe next year or at least 2010 on CES fair in Las Vegas? Or somehow on the next big technology fair in Asia. We'll see...
Vectors are needed and used in a broad range of businesses on earth. They also describe the movement of fluids, stock rate and economy flow and even crowds, also pharmaceutic formulas or flight directions for spaceships, cybernetic functions in robotics, and so on...
As a pun: This is a graphic change coming. We will remain curious and be aware on future trends.
On coming microtrends: Go on reading...
- Mobile cameras and new graphic design software
- use on social and sociological topics
(model of crowd movements similar to fluids is already in use)
- financial calculations
- technological tasks as e.g. in the behaviour of swarm bots in robotics
- stock rate
- economy flow
- pharmaceutic formulas
- flight directions for spaceships
- 3-d softwares and movies
- navigation devices
- language translation technologies
- artificial intelligence ...
At last there might be much more based on only one core math-software. This software will be expandable just by using plugins for e.g. graphics, fotography, technical tasks, quantum physics, architecture or maybe up to calculating pharmaceutical formula for new cosmetics or medicines.
Prognosis: First usable vector camera: ca. end of 2009
Unified vector core software: ca. 2010.
Maybe there already exists a solution or program version. Still this might be in beta status or not published - perhaps because the author works in cracker/hacker scene, or perhaps because the first use is military?
Should you have any hints or comments - you are welcome!
