CO2 becomes Polycarbonate - Recycling as source for resources

Lean production - CDs, DVDs, drinking bottles, lenses and car headlights are made from polycarbonate (PC). Solution?

Unfortunately this resource is more expensive than other plastics.
Perspectives are changing: With PC made from carbondioxide (CO2).

Scientist Toshiyasu Sakakura (National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology - AIST.go.jp) in Tsukuba/Japan and Thomas Müller (Director of Catalytic Center Aachen/Germany CAT - catalyticcenter.rwth-aachen.de*) developed independently of each other a method to produce PC from carboindioxide (CO2).

Their research results were presented to the public at 235. annual conference of American Chemical Society (ACS.org).

Thomas Müller say that CO2 might be easily extracted from fossile fuel emissions: "Using CO2 for polycarbonate production might not solve the whole carbondioxide problem but it should to make a big contribution".

Global needs today already fit several millions (am.:bilions) of tons in polycarbonates per year. Using CO2 as a resource might be able to bind more of the gas that ist noxious for earth climate.

This seems to become a very good development. Most of global waste and emissions should possibly become a resource for known as well as for new materials.
In addition this recycling would push a new branch in economy especially on energy, pharma and chemical industries.
